Dear Members and Friends of Hope Lutheran Church,

It’s been a great privilege and a high honor to serve here at Hope for the past twelve years. While I do feel the Lord’s call on my heart and so am moving on to serve in a new church, my heart is certainly flooded with mixed emotions these days. It’s not easy to uproot. I am deeply thankful for the loving care and support from the people of Hope through the years, and Colleen and I appreciate your faithful prayers.

As you’ve heard by now, my final weekend at Hope will be August 3-4. I’ll be wrapping up some transition tasks at the church for a number of days after that, and so will be in the area (and in the office, on a limited basis) for a short time before moving. If everything goes according to plan with real estate transactions, Colleen and I will be moving to Virginia in mid-to-late August.

We will miss all of you greatly! If you want to stay in touch, I’ll be using my current email address ( ) through August 9. If you’re driving to DC and points north, you’re always welcome to stop by. The church is ½ mile east of I-95, on Prince William Parkway.

I’ll do my best to say a proper goodbye on August 3-4, but for now please know that I am thankful to God for the people of Hope, and for the very special place that you have in my heart.
